Content editing helps nonfiction books flow.

My nonfiction content editing package consists of two rounds of hands-on, per-word editing, getting the nuts and bolts of your manuscript into shape and ready for its final stages.

Especially for new authors, content editing is a valuable process where we’ll look at the overall presentation of your material, tightening up phrasing and doing whatever we can to ensure that readers don’t have to work too hard to figure out what you’re saying.

Content Editing (two rounds)

Content editing, otherwise known as substantive editing, is a more creative approach than copyediting. It’s perfect for authors looking for that next layer of help with their language and flow at a sentence- and paragraph level.

Editing for reader enjoyment

At the chapter and paragraph level, I’ll offer suggestions on how to streamline presentation of information within each chapter or section. At the sentence level, I’ll suggest tighter phrasing, smooth out dialog, and hunt for sticky bits I can clarify, condense, or otherwise enhance.

May or may not include copyediting

Depending on the project, content editing may include everything in a copyedit, or your manuscript may need to go through one final round of copyediting.

What others are saying

Sarah turned out to be exactly what I was seeking in an editor: knowledgeable about the rules, gentle enough to allow my voice to shine through, and always willing to keep the story in mind.

I truly have appreciated your insight and perspective. You have a graceful way of presenting suggestions with a nonthreatening demeanor that has helped me embrace the suggestions without feeling like the manuscript is lacking.

I thoroughly enjoyed your input and the areas where you asked me to clarify or show you more. I miss a lot of that when I’m trying to finish a book and it was nice to have someone point out opportunities to give things a second look.
